Teaching Artist in Training

Position Overview

The Teaching Artist in Training will join our program to expand our music education reach in Liberty City, Overtown, North Miami, Miami Gardens, South Broward and South Dade. Teaching Artists in Training will play a pivotal role in introducing students to the world of music, fostering creativity, and promoting emotional well-being.

Training Overview

Teaching Artists In Training will undergo a 8 to 10-week training program where they will be required to commute to our sites to shadow and teach lessons within the Teeny Violini program. They will learn classroom management skills, teaching techniques, the Colorful Violin Method, and the Teeny Violini Curricula. Upon successful completion of the training program and meeting all requirements, Teaching Artists in Training will be eligible for advancement to higher positions within Teeny Violini.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Shadow experienced Teaching Artists to learn teaching techniques and styles.

- Integrate and deliver engaging music education lessons using the Colorful Violin Method to preschool and early learning center students.

- Use the Teeny Violini curricula to make music connections with literacy, shapes and colors.

- Develop and adapt weekly lesson plans according to the needs of the organization.

- Upload weekly self-reflections to record teaching progress.

- Adapt lessons to meet the needs and interests of diverse learners.

- Complete the 8-10 weeks of training, for 6-10 hours per week, achieving a passing score of 28 or above.

- Ensure proper recording of completed hours via Clockify.

- Must have reliable transportation to commute between school sites.

- Adhere to the training schedule and requirements set forth by Teeny Violini’s training program.

- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages self-expression and creativity.

- Attend all scheduled staff meetings, training sessions, and in-house professional development opportunities provided by Teeny Violini.

- Adhere to the program’s guidelines and policies for teaching and classroom management.

- Must be available between the hours of 8 am to 6 pm.

- Must be able to lift a minimum of 20lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

- Background in music, with a passion for introducing young children to the foundation of music theory.

- Proficiency in one or more instruments.

- Education experience in early childhood settings is preferred.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Enthusiasm for working with diverse communities and commitment to fostering emotional well-being in children.

- Ability to pass a Level 2 background check and fingerprinting.

- CPR, First Aid, and 40-hour certification are strongly encouraged.

Compensation

- $20-25 per hour for Teaching

- 2 admin hours per week

- Weekly travel stipend

- Reimbursement for professional development opportunities hosted by Teeny Violini and other organizations.
